When requesting a metal detector, you will need to know what kind of metal you are looking for.  We carry two kinds of metal detectors; one for ferrous metals (property stakes) and one for brass, jewelry, coins, and pop can tabs!

When utilizing a detector, keep in mind that they will only penetrate approximately 6" in the ground.  If you have an example of what you are looking for, i.e. a property stake, a piece of jewelry similar to what you are looking for, you can find a closer setting for your search.  Because there is so much ferrous metal (iron) in the rocks of the Plateau, you may get false readings.

When looking for a specific object, you will want to walk a circular grid pattern about 10' from where you think the object is located and work into the center.
